AMBIENT takes 2nd place in the Burkietowicz Group competition

AMBIENT takes second place in a closed competition organized by Grupa Burkietowicz.
The invited architects were tasked with developing a concept for a “future office building” using timber frame construction. The company was looking for inspiration while preparing to build its new headquarters. Faced with rapidly progressing climate change, it decided to take steps to reduce its environmental impact and use a natural material—wood—for its next development. As this was its first experience with this technology, it sought input from a range of experts. Participants were expected to deliver creative designs combining aesthetics with functionality, addressing both the future needs of users and the broader context of the building and its surroundings.
AMBIENT was awarded second place in the competition. Our design was based on a rectangular massing, with the form shaped by cut-outs placed where the interior connects with the exterior—entrances, view openings, and skylights. This layout creates a sense of openness and spatial continuity. Inside, at these transition zones between inside and outside, we introduced key nodes—places for meetings, collaboration, and rest.
We would like to sincerely thank Grupa Burkietowicz not only for the award, but also for organizing a competition that promotes ecology and new technologies in construction. We hope the timber office building will be realized and become a friendly workplace that supports both work and social interaction, as well as relaxation.
