PLGBC Distinction for the Choszczówka Library

We are delighted to announce that the Choszczówka Library, designed by AMBIENT, received a distinction in the PLGBC Polish Green Building Council Awards 2023 in the category Best Ecological Design.

The jury recognized the building for both its environmental performance and architectural quality. Veronika Themerson, Director of the Centre of Excellence for Environment at Skanska’s commercial development unit in Central and Eastern Europe and a member of the jury, explained the decision as follows:

“This distinction […] was awarded for the attractive combination of a beautifully simple architectural form with advanced technical systems supporting sustainable construction. This project proves that it is possible to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, save drinking water, use renewable energy sources, or build a public facility using prefabricated timber construction, while at the same time providing users with comfortable, multifunctional spaces that offer contact with nature. […] A return to nature in beautiful style.”

The awards ceremony was hosted by Alicja Kuczera, Managing Director of PLGBC. The awarded library was represented by Jan Mackiewicz, Deputy Mayor of Białołęka responsible for capital investments, and Magdalena Pios, founder of AMBIENT. We thank and congratulate all the winners!
