The concept focuses on adapting the building to the current needs of its users, with particular attention to respecting the distinctive solutions of Modernism. The plan to transform the existing building, which in our studio’s view is a value in itself, into a place that can successfully function for years to come is also an attempt to develop a set of practices enabling the contemporary use of this type of architectural structure so characteristic of the Polish landscape.
The building has been adapted to meet the needs of contemporary users, addressing thermal and acoustic comfort, air quality, and accessibility for people with disabilities. The design minimizes demolition by making use of existing spaces — including corridors transformed into areas for recreation and quiet retreat, furnished with mobile furniture and organic materials.
The revitalization also includes a reinterpretation of the modernist façade, through the application of divisions referencing prefabricated panels and the original joinery.
